Our Students Need Modern Colleges and Affordable Career Training

Contra Costa’s community colleges are one of the smartest investments our county has made. They offer an affordable path to opportunity while strengthening our local workforce and economy. However, many classrooms and facilities are now decades old, with aging buildings and outdated labs making it harder to deliver the education and job training today’s economy demands.

That’s why local leaders, educators, and community partners are urging support for Contra Costa Community College District’s bond measure in the June 2026 election.

The Contra Costa Community College District supports one out of every 25 jobs in the county, contributes $2.3 billion annually to our local economy, and prepares nearly 50,000 students each year for well-paying, essential careers. This bond is about protecting that impact and making sure our colleges can continue to deliver for the next generation.

Why Your Support Matters

This bond will be on the ballot in a competitive election. Early financial support and public endorsements are essential to building the coalition needed to win and to ensure voters understand what’s at stake. Supporting this measure is a clear way to invest in local students, a stronger workforce, and Contra Costa’s long-term economic health.

What This Bond Will Do

  • Modernize aging classrooms and facilities at Contra Costa College, Diablo Valley College, and Los Medanos College to meet today’s safety, accessibility, and workforce-training standards.
  • Protect access to affordable, high-quality education for local students, including working families, seniors, and low-income residents.
  • Expand hands-on career training for essential, in-demand jobs like nursing, firefighting, paramedicine, healthcare, and public safety.
  • Strengthen the local workforce and economy by preparing residents for good-paying jobs in industries critical to Contra Costa County’s future.
  • Keep all funds local, by law, so every dollar stays in the Contra Costa County community colleges and cannot be taken by the State or redirected elsewhere.
  • Require strict oversight and accountability, including independent citizen oversight and regular audits to ensure funds are spent exactly as promised.
